Welcome to The Greyhound
Over the years, whilst driving past the old site of The Greyhound, many of us have seen the building go from a popular local pub to a sad, empty and lifeless shell. Braving a bumpy encounter with developers, an unlawful demolishment, and years of sitting empty, you’ll be pleased to hear that things are finally looking up for the once loved building. Having spent the last few months being fully renovated and refurbished as a food led venue, The Greyhound is getting set to welcome in guests through the door once more.
With a pub area to the front and a cosy corner for dining to the rear, The Greyhound is preparing to serve fresh local produce with a seasonal menu, seven days a week. An award winning wine selection is available, alongside unusual and well loved real ales. There will be something for everyone to enjoy.
Experience comfortable, intimate seating, delicious pub classics, weekend brunch, Sunday roasts and local real ales served on our trademark copper top bar. This is not the first time we have taken on an ambitious project like this. Past achievements (and labours of love) include The Horse & Groom in Wilmington, Kent and The Lord Northbrook pub in Lee, South East London. Ironically, many years ago this boozer was awarded the ‘London’s Worst Pub’ award, yet post development this community pub, full of charm and character, now boasts the winner of the Shortlist’s National Pub of the Year, and Time Out’s Love London Award for Best Pub.
The Greyhound’s past may be an interesting one, but according to the new management team there is certainly life in the old dog yet. As finishing touches take place, the “Welcome” mat shall be placed at the door for an opening date in early 2018.
We look forward to you visiting and enjoying an exciting (and delicious) new chapter in the tale of The Greyhound, Sydenham.
